When Comparison Creeps In…

In this season I’ve been in a place where I want a relationship with God and have a desire to really know Him personally. Just like other relationships, it takes time to build that intimacy and as a person who lacks patience it’s been a bit challenging to wait for God and I’s relationship to grow.

I often struggled as I would see christian influencers talking about “what God told them” or sharing intimate experiences with Him, I would always feel this hint of sadness and confusion because I was not there yet. I began to question myself asking “What am I doing wrong?” and “Why aren’t I experiencing God like that?”.

However, I now understand that God will meet you where you are at. God will not ignore you until you reach a certain point in your life that you “think” is pleasing to Him. He wants to start building with you wherever you are in life now.

In your walk with Christ you are going to gain discernment to His voice and the more you seek Him the more your relationship will grow and that takes time. During that process ask God to reveal Himself in every area in your life.

Comparison may creep up when you see others “on fire” for God while you are in still in that building process but remember to be happy for your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! Remember that hell lost another one and if Heaven is rejoicing over that person then so should you! Trust that God will reveal Himself to you and you will be rewarded.

In 2 Corinthians verses 10:12 it states it is unwise to compare.  Do not let comparison ruin your blooming process in your walk with God. Accept every stage of God and your’s relationship because even if you feel it or not you are growing. Our Father is omnipresent, he is with ALL of us and He does not have favorites (Acts 10:34) nor shows favoritism. God wants a relationship with all His children.

Remember that God values you! He thinks about you more than you can comprehend and He loves you so much.

The Lord is a good shepard that cares for all his sheep.

A very good way to stop comparison is by understanding how much God cares about you!

Take sometime to read and study: Psalms 139

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for your grace and your love. I pray that the person reading this understands that they are the apple of your eye. I pray they understand how much you love and care for them. When they get lost in comparison, remind them to focus on you. I pray they began to see your goodness in every aspect of their life and hear you clearly. Father I pray we always seek you wholeheartedly. Lord, I pray you fill us with your love and your light. Continue to guide and direct us. I pray we will get closer to you and that each of our relationships with You grows. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
